Had a great experience with Pink Mountain

I had a great experience with Pink Mountain Tours on my first visit to Nepal. They helped me prepare for the trip - advising on what to pack, recommending accommodation and organising the whole trek to the Himalayas. They are able to offer greater flexibility with dates and itinerary than larger operators and were able to accommodate last minute changes when my travel companion fell ill.

Pink Mountain arranged for airport pick up to my accommodation and showed me around Kathmandu, including a sunrise at Nagarkot followed by a day trip to the world heritage Bhaktapur. The trekking in Sagarmatha National Park was well prepared and tailored to our dates and request to include Gokyo Ri on the way to Everest Base Camp / Kala Patthar. Our guide met us before the trek in Thamel and checked to make sure our equipment was roadworthy. He was able to recommend places where I could rent or buy additional equipment and it was nice to meet him before the trek to get acquainted.

The trek was amazing, the scenery superb and the guide and porter very knowledgeable and friendly. The choice of accommodation was comfortable given the remoteness of the National Park and we were able to set our own pace and stop whenever we wanted. The guide was particularly helpful in getting us down safely from Gokyo Ri and Kala Patthar after amazing sunsets at the top. We were luck with the weather but the snow storm on the way down would have been much more dangerous without their support. Overall highly recommended – safe, experienced and friendly service.

Everest Base Camp with Pink Mountain Travel - one of the greatest experiences of my life

I was lucky enough to be able to travel to Everest Base Camp with Pink Mountain Travel in November 2018 with my partner and a friend.

Let me start by saying that the ease of communication, patience, professionalism, warm attitude and friendliness we experienced with Yadab as he organised our trip and welcomed us to Kathmandu was incredible. Personally coming to meet us at the airport and see us off (even though this was some days before/after our tour), and taking us into his home to celebrate Tihar - interacting with Yadab was honestly a highlight of the trip.

The trek itself was phenomenal. Very well-run with exceptionally good porters, and a relaxed enough management style that members of our three-person group were able to push themselves or take it easy as they saw fit, with those wanting to challenge ourselves being able to move ahead with the porters, or otherwise being supported at a slower pace with the guide. I personally thoroughly appreciated this style, as it meant that I could still physically push myself without my friends being unsupported.

Accommodation was surprisingly good - I would certainly recommend going with tuna whenever you can, as neither I nor my friends are made for the vegetarian lifestyle I think, and with meat generally not being safe to eat in the region, tuna was a welcome relief! Nights were certainly cold, though the sleeping bags that Yadab organised for us to hire (can't quite recall the cost, but extremely affordable!) held up to the task well.

From a practical perspective in terms of clothing at this time of year, the most I wore was thermals socks, hiking socks, thermal pants, hiking pants, thermal shirt, gym shirt, down jacket, neck warmer, gloves and beanie - that was enough even though it got down to -23C. The least I wore at the beginning of the trek were normal gym clothes - shorts and t-shirt. Lobuche onwards there was no running water (the pipes were frozen), and showers were either during the day at most sites (we never managed to shower during the day though - too busy), or otherwise was able to shower in the evening in Namche Bazaar.

Overall, this was honestly one of the greatest trips I have ever had the pleasure to go on. I would not hesitate for one second to book with Pink Mountain Travel again in the future. Throughout the entire experience, from the first moment I contacted Yadab and even now, we have all felt as though we are not just numbers or customers to a business, but guests and friends being welcomed and looked after (not to mention protected from the rorts and scams that tourists inevitably can come across in Nepal) to the absolute best of his ability.

Well and truly deserving of a flawless review.

    Warm & Personalized Nepal Treks

My friend and I booked our EBC trek via Pink Mountains rather than the standard Intrepid type tours and was very happy with the results.

Yadab (founder & owner) was very welcoming on our arrival in Kathmandu and helped us with all the logistics, including last minute shopping for gear and warm clothing. And took us to the best ever momo place!

Our trekking guide Ram was warm and supportive. When I got altitude sickness but my friend could press on with the hike, the team was very flexible and came up with a solution to split the guide & porter. That way I got to evacuate down the mountain but my friend got to continue to the peaks.

Pink Mountain is highly recommend for EBC or any other treks in Nepal (e.g. ABC) or around region. Essentially you got your own guide & porter, which made things flexible and much more personalized.

    Excellent

I contacted Pink Mountain a few weeks before going to Nepal, to do the Annapurna Circuit Trek. I got response almost immediately and communication was very easy. I was lucky to get a very good and experienced guide so I could focus on enjoying the trek instead of worrying about organizing things and planning too much.

    Excellent! Friendly and flexible

Nepal travel can be chaotic, complicated and frustrating. So it is immensely helpful to have someone knowledgeable to help coordinate and guide your travels there. As mentioned by others, Yadab and his team are highly recommended - whether you are LGBTQ or not! Yadab went waaayyy out of his way to arrange our helicopter trip to EBC on my actual birthday, which was a dream come true. And as for local history and knowledge, Yadab holds degrees in archeology and is also a university lecturer. And did you know that he can read ancient languages including Sanskrit inscriptions? 5 STARS!

    One heck of a trip!

This comes straight from my heart! This was our first trip anywhere together, which made it so special. I contacted Yadab only a handful days prior to our arrival in Kathmandu. He was very prompt and positive with replying to my emails. Both of us found him to be a very professional yet warm individual and were amazed by his exceptionally welcoming and helpful behavior. I did not even have my passport with me but he made sure that we get all our permits and flights the same day we meet him. He ensured us that we will be able to see the summit of Mount Everest, which was our dream destination for this trip. We did a short city tour of Thamel on the day of our arrival. Later he introduced us to Yogi, who was our guide for Mount Everest View Hotel trek. Yogi was a very friendly guide, who had great knowledge and experience of trekking in the Everest Region. It was only because of his company that we were able to complete our trek in a very short period of 6 days. We were lucky to have a very clear sky and saw the summit of Everest from multiple different sites along the trek. We never felt at any point that we were being rushed, he was always very respectful in his behavior. He clicked a lot of awesome pictures of us. He was kind enough to even offer his help carrying our backup on the patches of very steep climb, which we did not let him do. Of note, I had pain in my knee on our way down, and Yogi gave me knee caps, which actually helped me a lot to get back safe at Lukla. We feel fortunate to have these guys as our tour guides and will definitely recommend them as the best and probably only LGBT friendly tour guide company in Nepal. Make sure to take their help as trekking in Everest region without a guide is probably not a good idea, especially if you are pressed with time and/or visiting Nepal for the first time. Yadab gives you the best exchange rate so don't bother at the airport. He is very flexible with his plan and personalizes the trip to the unique experiences you want to have. 5/5 stars to the Pink Mountain Travel! I wish them the best and hope to return soon.

Tour to Nepal with Pink Mountain

We recently visited Nepal, and were extremely lucky to have Yadab as our guide and now friend. He's a wonderful, professional, well organized and extremely knowledgeable guide.

He ensured we had a wonderful time in beautiful Nepal. Whether it was securing us the best exchange rates for currency in Kathmandu or encouraging me as I struggled up the 3000+ steps climb to Ulleri. I highly recommend Pink Mountain and Yadab.

    Thanks for a great trip.

    Highly Recommended!

Highly recommended! We had a 16-day tour with Pink Mountain that included visits to Kathmandu, Bandipur, Pokhara, Poon Hill and Lumbini. From our first emails to Pink Mountain to our goodbyes at the airport at the end of the tour, Yadab and his staff were very professional, attentive and friendly. Yadab created a fantastic itinerary for us and gave us the flexibility to choose what we wanted to see and do while in Nepal. He even made last minute changes for us without any hesitation. We trusted Yadab immensely since the hotels and restaurants included in the tour are ones that he has personally visited and approved, so he knows if they are what we would expect or want.

Unlike some tour companies which just assign several local tour guides for you, Yadab was with us everyday of the tour and personally guided us. We were very comfortable with Yadab - it was like travelling around with a good friend who we had known for years, not just a tour operator. He handled all of our hotel check-ins, museum visits and even helped us with souvenir shopping. He is VERY knowledgeable of Nepalese culture, architecture, food and history. And he never pressured us to go on any shopping stops or other "tourist traps" that you might get with other tour companies.

We especially loved that Yadab was extremely knowledgeable about the LGBT community in Nepal and was able to provide us with in-depth information on queer culture and history there. We've used other LGBT-friendly tour companies in other countries, but they never focused on queer history or current events. It was great to learn so much about about the community in Nepal since it's not as out in the open like in Canada or Australia.

We highly recommend Pink Mountain Travels and Excursions without hesitation. If you are travelling to Nepal, it is worth every cent to book a tour with Yadab and his staff.
